Preventing Well Riser Pipes from Freezing

Drilled or dug wells should be installed and designed so that the water supply pipe enters the well below the frost line. Therefore there is no worry of your riser pipe within the well freezing. This is however not always the case as certain rocky geographies and design constraints make this impossible.

As a result in some cases the internal riser pipe within the well may be exposed to frost and freezing temperatures. When the riser pipe within the well freezes you loose all water supply to your dwelling.
