Does Low Voltage Heat Trace Use Less Energy?
A common misconception is that low voltage electrical appliances, such as a heating cables, consume less energy than 120/ 240 volt electrical appliances. Power consumption...
In this month’s video blog, we explain how to choose the right control strategy for your Heat-Line pipe freeze protection system. Heat-Line self-regulating heating cables automatically adjust their heat output based on the temperature around the cable, so an additional control device is not required for operation. However, adding a timer or thermostat can provide greater control and energy efficiency by managing when the heating cable is energized.
This video looks at three control options:
• No additional control for simple, seasonal operation
• A timer for on/off operation at timed intervals
• A thermostat for sensor-based on/off operation
The right option depends on your application, system length, accessibility, and energy efficiency goals.
Watch the video to learn which control strategy makes the most sense for your freeze protection system.
